In Gotham City and New York City, Bruce Wayne and Matt Murdock have each been struck
down by poison darts from a mysterious group of deadly assassins. While these men
lie helplessly prone in their hospital beds, Batgirl and Elecktra are busy
hunting down their assailants, in the hope of finding an antidote to the poison. Their search takes them to the underbelly of
Gotham City, where the sewers turn out to be the hideout for a bizarre cult of
lethal assassins who worship snakes.
After tangling with several dozen of these maniacal murderers, Batgirl and Elecktra
escape down a chute, which leads to a large, flooded pit. Batgirl tries to
search for a way out, when Elecktra suddenly grabs her arm. Elecktra points to a pair of
massive doors in the wall that slide open, and a monster snake slithers into the pit.
"Oh great," Batgirl wearily mutters, as she sizes up this new threat. "Well, at least we now know where they get
their venom from...."
This is my entry for the When Worlds Collide Part 2 contest on the
Hero's Emporium board a few years back.
I entered in the "Show Only" category. The idea is to create a diorama
featuring two heroes from the separate comics universes (such as DC and Marvel).
Since I missed out on the first contest, I was eager to be a part of this one.
The figures are made from two resin Nemrod Beach Girls. The snake you may recognize
from the Polar Lights Land Of The Giants Snake Scene. The rest of the diorama is
scratch-built with Balsa Foam (for the walls) and plastic tubing and sheet styrene
from Evergreen. The water is created by Woodland Scenics Water Effects. I've read
about this stuff in the model magazines and wanted to try it. It's pretty effctive
for creating water without mixing or heating. Just pour it out, sculpt it to your
liking, and let it dry.
