I never had the original Aurora Batplane, so it was a treat for me to pick this
kit up when Polar Light re-released it. It's a simple kit to built and paint.
Instead of the solid black or dark blue color, I went with this design. The wings,
as well as the tip and spine of the plane are painted flat black. The plane's
body was painted with a mixture of Flat Blue and Flat White. This paint scheme
invoked the 1960s, comic book-ish spirit of Batman for me.
I didn't want to bother with the figures--which were merely head and shoulders
molded on a flat piece of plastic--so I didn't paint them. I then painted
the interior of the cockpit window with Flat Black that had been watered down. The
result is that you can just faintly see their heads through the glass if you
look closely at the cockpit. I figured it would look better this way, since the
dark cockpit glass now matches the plane's black spine.
